Matt Wilkinson survived the Round 2 guillotine at the Billabong Pro Tahiti 2016.

The leader of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) rankings defeated the local hero Hira Teriinatoofa in an extremely tight and tense heat.

“I came into Tahiti really psyched. I went out yesterday, and John John was in the heat before mine, and he got some absolute nuggets. When I went out for my heat, I was so psyched, but there was not a proper set in the heat, and it was low-scoring,” explained Wilko.
