The first-ever World Dog Surfing Championships will be held at Linda Mar Beach, in San Francisco, on the 10th September 2016.

Some of the world’s best canine wave riders will compete for prizes across six divisions: small dogs, medium dogs, large dogs, very large dogs, tandem dogs, and tandem human/dog.

According to the organizers, the first surf dog competition was designed by Kevin Reed, the author of “The Dog’s Guide to Surfing,” and took place in San Diego.
